The Power of Rewards - to help you stop procrastinating!

How this page came about

These sites and pointers to other resources are an ongoing project for me. I was recently a non-traditional student in Kentucky. I always wanted to see how teaching would be for a career, so I finally took the courses I needed to find out. I was so glad I did. I didn't want to say when I was older that I never did anything about this dream. So I acted on it.

Now I want to help others get inspired and motivated to pursue their educational goals.

Some tips on how to get self-motivated and inspired...

As I learned in my teaching classes, inspiration can come from many sources.

Also, motivation is the best when it is intrinsic, or activated from inside the individual.

In other words, if you do something only for a reward, or an extrinsic thing, you might not last at the task. You will become unmotivated eventually, because learning really needs to be its own reward. Why? Because rewards like grades or kudos don't last forever.

In other words, when you are motivated to do the learning because you WANT to, and have a goal, the learning can continue until that goal is reached. You are being pushed along by YOURSELF.

So... you may be asking, how does a person start getting self-motivated and working towards his or her goal?

One way is to access the wisdom and help of others.
